The city of Heraklion was built in the 8th century BC. It was one of the most opulent cities of the Nile Delta (Egypt). According to scientists, an earthquake followed by a tidal wave responsible for the disappearance of Heraklion. Thanks to excavations started in 2000 in the waters of the Mediterranean, several vestiges of the city have been found and dives are conducted to find other objects.
