To this day, only 240,000 marine species have been found on the 2,2 million estimated ones. From that perspective, the Ocean Census mission was born. The goal : discover 100,000 new species in ten years! This international operation is led by a consortium of British and Japanese scientists. To help them in this expedition, they rely on different techniques such as underwater imaging, DNA sequencing techniques and machine learning. Their ambition: to know better to protect better... an idea that we know well and that we salute.
