More than 5,000 new species have been found in the Pacific. In the Clarion-Clipperton area, located between Mexico and Hawaii, a team of researchers from the Natural History Museum in London (UK) discovered several new marine species. Sponges, sea cucumbers, arthropods, and other different types of animals were inventoried. Today, the scientific community considers that 226,000 marine species are known out of the supposed 2 million.
