The emperor penguin is a bird endemic to Antarctica. Due to the extreme temperatures of its habitat, the observation of the species is very complicated. Thanks to the use of satellites, British researchers from the British Antarctic Survey were able to discover eleven new colonies of emperor penguins. This discovery brings the number of known colonies of the species to 61. Photo credit: Andy Holmes
