Christmas Tree, where does it come from?

The Christmas Tree comes from pagans traditions, a long time before the advent of Christianity. During the Winter Solstice, Romans decorated their homes with tree branches, as a way to celebrate the arrival of longer days and the Agricultural god. At the same time, Scandinavian people used evergreens to celebrate their god Heimdall. Christians then seized it as a symbol of eternal life. Photo credit: Annie Spratt
