Breathing is a fundamental part of all life. But is it really? An animal has just challenged this assumption. This is the parasite Henneguya salminicola, which is in the same family as jellyfish. For the moment, the researchers could not find how this animal is oxygenating. This discovery nevertheless makes it possible to envisage the process of evolution of species in a different way.
