We call it the 'snow monkey'. The Japanese macaque lives in the forests of Japan andcan withstand harsh winters. When temperatures drop below -5°C, Japanese macaques regularly warm up in onsens (natural hot springs). Scientists at Kyoto University measured their levels of glucocorticoid, the stress hormone. They found that the monkeys' stress levels were 20% lower on average after a bath.
