A marvelous bird

The quetzal is one of the most emblematic birds of the south-American continent. Its red and green plumage is astonishing. The males have a long tale with green and blue feathers. The quetzal lives on high cliffs, at minimum 1 500 meters high. For the Mayas and Aztecs, the quetzal was a sacred bird because he was the incarnation of the god Quetzalcóatl, the feathers snake.
