Discovering Patagonia seabed

Exploring the extreme depths of Patagonia: this is the mission of Vreni Häussermann. This German-Chilean marine biologist has been living in Patagonia (southern region of Chile) for more than twenty years. There is very little information on Patagonian marine biodiversity. Vreni Häussermann and her team survey marine species using a remotely operated underwater vehicle. They can thus visualize the fauna and flora of the Patagonian fjords up to 500 meters deep and communicate this valuable information to NGOs and the Chilean government to raise awareness of conservation issues.
