A flying kangaroo!
It lives only in the mountain ranges of central New Guinea (Oceania). Unlike its terrestrial cousins, the tree kangaroo is an excellent climber and can leap from the top of a tree to land 18 meters below. Goodfellow's tree-kangaroo was first observed in 1928. Then, for 90 years, there was no trace of the animal. Scientists believed it to be extinct. Finally, in 2018, British naturalist Michael Smith photographed an individual! Their population has plummeted in recent decades due to habitat destruction.
