This is the age of the oldest animal in the world. Discovered in 2006, the mollusk Arctica Islandica was found off the coast of Iceland. The animal was born in 1499. He died at the age of 507 when Welsh researchers at Bangor University opened the mollusk to check his age. The researchers called him Ming, in reference to the ruling Chinese empire (1368 - 1644) at the time of his birth.
