In Australia, 26 animal species are no longer in danger. This is the happy observation made by a team of Australian scientists in the journal Biological Conservation. Among these 26 species, there is in particular the humpback whale whose numbers are no longer in danger thanks to the ban on whaling in Australia, as well as the common frog, formerly threatened by a fungus. Thanks to conservation efforts over the past two decades, these species are no longer threatened with extinction. Nevertheless, Australia remains the first country in the world with the highest rate of mammalian extinction.
