The koala is one of Australia's iconic animals. It can sleep up to 22 hours a day, it is one of the greatest sleepers in the animal kingdom. This time of sleep is necessary for it to digest the toxins and the fibers which it ingests. Nocturnal animal, the koala is a herbivorous marsupial that feeds mainly at night on eucalyptus leaves.
