Native to the humid forests of the Himalayas, the red panda is a carnivorous mammal that mainly feeds on bamboo. It lives between 2,800 and 3,900 meters above sea level. During the day, the red panda spends most of the time sleeping, perched on a tree branch. Nocturnal and solitary animal, it assists at nightfall to eat. Half of the red pandas population has gone extinct in the wild due to poaching and habitat destruction.
