A forest filled with legends

Above the Ribeauvillé forest stands Mount Taennchel (3,244 ft / 988 m). Because of the strangely shaped rocks that cover its grounds, it is surrounded by legends. Mysterious symbols carved in the stones attest to an ancient Celtic presence. They are said to be former sites of worship. Today, some continue to visit them to benefit from their cosmo-telluric waves. Stories of giants seated on rocks and gnomes preventing people from sleeping also surround the premises. A pagan wall winds through the woods for 1.43 mi (2.3 km), and scientists are still unable to determine its origin and date of construction.
