A palace bought by the municipality

Built by the Counts of Lascaris-Ventimiglia between the 15th and 16th centuries, the Lascaris Palace of Castellar was sold as national property in 1796 and transformed into collective housing. At the beginning of the 19th century, it became the property of Pierre-Joseph Arson, First Consul of the city of Nice and Commander of the Order of Saints-Maurice-et-Lazare. The palace later remained abandoned until the gradual acquisition and renovation of its uninhabited and unoccupied parts by the municipality of Castellar from 1987.
