Scarlet macaw's beak
The scarlet macaw lives mainly in the moist forests of Central and South America, rarely more than 1000 m above sea level. The beak of this vegetarian of the canopy is wide and powerful. The upper mandible is larger and white, with a black tinted tip, and the lower mandible is smaller and black. It uses it accurately and this allows the bird to crack hard nuts. It presses the nut between its tongue and its palate to crush the seed.
