The Masterpieces section of the Cité de l’Automobile-Collection Schlumpf (City of Automobile-Schlumpf Collection) in Mulhouse brings together eighty of the most beautiful cars from the 1930s, whose shiny chrome is highlighted by the midnight blue decor. Among them are fourteen Rolls-Royces of anthology, the most remarkable of which is the Phantom III, marketed from 1936 to 1939. The brand was founded in 1904 by an automotive pioneer, Charles Stuart Rolls, and an engineer, Henri Royce. Following the demise of the Italian manufacturer Isotta-Fraschini, Rolls-Royce became the ultimate symbol of automotive luxury and was embraced by the world’s greats.
