A recent map of the forest cover and land use in Honduras was established in 2018. It re-evaluates the country's total forest area at 6.3 million hectares or 56 % of the national territory of 11.2 million hectares. These figures, which do not include agroforestry, secondary vegetation, savannas and other forms of plant cover, testify to the growth in areas under forest management and to the multiplication of the plans put in place to combat deforestation.
