The Cotentin donkey
0
0
Most likely native to North Africa, the Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) has been rooted in the Manche since the Middle Ages. At that time, it was used to carry milk jugs on the small paths between pastures and farms. Its mane is straight, its coat dove-grey, and it has a brown cross on its shoulders and the top of its front legs. Legend has it that the cross represents a protection of the Virgin Mary against the devil. Its soft white muzzle and its eyes edged in black and white give it a gentle look. It is very patient with children as well as people with disabilities.
