The Lalique skills

According to the Indians, the crystal is the “embryo” of diamonds. Engraving is far from trivial. The legendary fragility of crystal indeed requires extreme thoroughness and special know-how. The first techniques were born in Venice (Italy), during the 16th century. In those days, engravers used diamond points or copper knurls. Over the centuries, several new methods have emerged (in particular the use of laser), making it possible to carry out relief or rather hollow engravings. Lalique's crystal engraving is considered an exceptional form of craftsmanship that accentuates the natural beauty of the mineral.
