Elephant musth
The testosterone level can be multiplied by 50 in rutting male elephants. They show their ardor by shaking their ears and swinging their heads. An odorous substance, the frontaline, flows from their penis and mixes with urine to mark the territory and prevent females in heat. Secreted by a temporal gland, the frontaline is a musk particularly loaded with pheromones. It is also called musth.
