Dune landscape of Ostriconi beach

In Balagne, when le libeccio blows violently on the beach of Ostriconi, it drags the sand to 130 m (426 ft) altitude and creates long white dunes. Next to the traditional protected Large-fruited Junipers (Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. macrocarpa), a Sea Grape subspecies (Ephedra distachya subsp. Distachya) thrive in this dune landscape. This sub-shrub with red fruits is rare in Corsica ; it only grows in this zone.
