The ancient phosphate mines of Cloup d'Aural represent an inexhaustible source of information on history. In the heart of the 98 feet (30m) chasm dug near Bach, scientists and paleontologists have discovered large quantities of invaluable fossils. Some of these have traveled as far as Australia to be examined by local specialists. The fossils and the study of the clay pockets that preserved them are a window into a still little-known past. Featured: Thierry Pelissié, curator of the Lot Geological Nature Reserve.
