Caring for the Fontfroide vines for thousands of years
Vines have been cultivated at the Abbey of Fontfroide since the laying of its first stones in 1093. They are grown in sustainable agriculture. All the gardens, as well as the rose garden, are carried out in organic farming without pesticides. The area is coincidently labeled LPO refuge (League for the Protection of Birds). The wines from the Fontfroide terroir are distinguished by their freshness. Its name indeed comes from the Latin "fons frigidus" which means "cold fountain".
