Cap Wabao forms a long tapered point on the west coast of the island of Maré. It is bordered to the north by the beach of Pede which opens onto the large bay of Tadine. Most of the population of the island is on this leeward coast, on both sides of the chief town Tadine, whose customary district counts 830 people in tribes including 600 for that of Tadine.
