Mangrove's outsanting biodiversity
1
0
Six mangrove tree species inhabit the impressive estuary formed by the Gulf of Fonseca. This broad border between sea and Honduran land has an outstanding biodiversity. The red mangrove is the most widespread: it occupies areas which are permanently flooded by tidal movements. The black mangrove grows on the winding banks of the five rivers flowing into the Gulf. The white mangrove and the button mangrove take place further inland.
