The curious black limestone rock, shaped like a broody hen, is one of the symbols of Hienghène. It is classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco with the other rocks and black limestone cliffs of Linderalique which extend over 2,5 miles (4 km). The Hen (called “Puxa” in the “Fwai” language) would have appeared to help the people of the island by laying giant eggs there, filled with benefits.
