The medieval village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie has been an adoptive home for artists since the early 20th century. Its architecture and the surrounding nature make it an inspirational environment for artists. It is undoubtedly the reason why so many painters, poets, and writers have found refuge there. For that matter, an international artist-in-residence program is held every year in the village. It welcomes four young artists for six weeks in the premises of the Maison Daura.
